Community Guidelines
Last updated: July 23, 2026
Vaylume is built on trust — travelers meeting up, planning trips together, and looking out for each other. These guidelines keep that trust intact. They're shorter and friendlier than our Terms of Service, but just as real: breaking them can lead to warnings, suspension, or a permanent ban.
Be Respectful
- Treat other travelers and hosts the way you'd want to be treated — this is a community, not just a marketplace.
- No harassment, hate speech, threats, or discrimination of any kind, including based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Disagreements happen — handle them like an adult, or bring in support@vaylume.app if you need help.
Be Honest
- Make your trip listings accurate: real photos, real dates, real details. No bait-and-switch.
- Write real reviews based on real experiences. Fake reviews (positive or negative) hurt the whole community and aren't allowed.
- Be who you say you are — no fake profiles or impersonating someone else.
Be Safe
- Companion Radar is a coordination tool, not a guarantee. It helps your group keep track of each other during a trip — it's not a replacement for your own street-smarts, situational awareness, or emergency planning.
- Meet up in public places when possible, especially the first time you're meeting travel companions in person, and trust your gut.
- If someone makes you uncomfortable or you notice concerning behavior, use the in-app report and block tools — don't just let it slide.
- In a real emergency, contact local emergency services first — Vaylume support is not a substitute for that.
No Spam, Scams, or Off-Platform Deals
- Don't use Vaylume to spam, advertise unrelated products, or solicit people for anything outside of trip planning.
- Don't ask travelers or hosts to pay you outside of Vaylume's payment system to "save on fees" — this isn't allowed, and it removes the protections our payment system provides.
- No phishing, fake payment links, or other scam behavior. If you see it, report it.
Reporting and Blocking
- You can report any user, host, listing, or message directly in the app if something feels off, dishonest, or unsafe.
- You can block another user at any time to stop seeing their content and prevent them from contacting you.
- We review reports and take them seriously. You don't need to handle a bad situation alone — flag it and let us help.
Consequences for Violations
We want Vaylume to stay a place people feel good about using, so violations are handled proportionately:
- First-time or minor issues: a warning and a chance to correct course
- Repeated or more serious issues: temporary suspension from listing, booking, or messaging
- Severe violations (harassment, fraud, safety threats, illegal activity, repeat offenses): permanent ban from Vaylume
Thanks for helping make Vaylume a place people trust with their travel plans — and with each other.
